The Southern California Low Voltage Subcontractor That Shows Up, Keeps Up, and Closes Out Clean

FOR GENERAL CONTRACTORS · SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

C-7 licensed. RCDD certified. A dedicated project manager on every job. We engage at pre-construction, deliver fully scoped bids, certify every run, and hand you a complete closeout package so your CO process doesn’t hinge on whether your LV sub showed up.

C-7 License #1086571  ·  RCDD Certified Staff  ·  Dedicated PM on every commercial job  ·  Serving SoCal GCs since 2009  ·  Inc. 5000

Sound familiar?

Most GCs have been burned by a low voltage subcontractor  at least once. The bid looked reasonable. The low voltage sub seemed experienced. Then the project started, and so did the problems.

  • LV rough-in missed the window. Walls are already closed, and cables are now threading around obstructions.
  • A single-line bid that exploded into change orders because the scope was never actually defined.
  • Low Voltage subcontractor crew went dark mid-install; your super is chasing a cell number for updates.
  • Inspector flags wrong-jacket cable in the plenum. Every run has to come out, and the AHJ backlog adds three weeks to your CO.
  • No documentation at closeout, CO package is incomplete, and the inspector won’t sign off.

None of that is bad luck. It’s what happens when LV work gets awarded on price alone, to a low voltage subcontractor who doesn’t have the commercial experience, licensing, or project management discipline the job actually demands.

There’s a better way. It starts with choosing the right C-7 licensed contractor before you sign anything.

How We Run A Commercial LV Project

01 · PRE-CONSTRUCTION

We engage before the walls close.

Before your project breaks ground, our team reviews the drawings. We identify telecom room locations, flag undersized spaces, plan conduit pathways around MEP conflicts, and coordinate with your superintendent and other trades before anyone picks up a drill. Problems that cost $500 to fix in design cost $50,000 to fix after drywall. We find them first.

02 · SCOPED BIDS

Every proposal is itemized. No guesswork.

Our proposals include cable types and quantities, drop locations, rack and patch panel work, testing and certification methodology, and explicit exclusions. There are no single-line numbers. What you see in the proposal is what you see during install and at closeout. Change orders on the scope we should have caught are on us, not you.

03 · CERTIFIED INSTALLS

Every run is tested, documented, and ready for your CO package.

We test every data drop to ANSI/TIA-568 standards using calibrated Level VI certifiers. Every result is documented. When your AHJ asks for certification at the CO inspection, it’s already in the package. We don’t do continuity checks and call it done. Every drop gets a pass/fail result that holds up to scrutiny.

04 · CODE COMPLIANCE

Plenum-rated cable. Firestopped Penetrations. California code, every time.

We specify plenum-rated cable in every air-handling space automatically. It’s not a conversation we need to have with your team; it’s simply how we work. Every cable penetration through a fire-rated wall or floor assembly is firestopped with a listed, tested system and photographed before the wall closes. When the inspector walks the building, there’s nothing to flag.

05 · CLOSEOUT

Complete documentation. No scramble. No surprises.

Labels go on both ends of every cable at termination, not reconstructed from memory at the end of the job. As-built drawings are maintained throughout. At closeout, you receive labeled runs, rack documentation, test reports, and firestop records in a single package. Everything the AHJ needs, delivered on schedule, and everything the building owner needs to actually manage what we built.

Estimated 5–6 Weeks. Done in 3.5

“Network Zen handled our new site network installation with precision and care. Their team immediately got to work on both the wireless site survey and full low-voltage implementation, delivering a complete enterprise network for our 840,000 sq. ft. warehouse. The project was estimated to take 5–6 weeks, but Network Zen completed it in just 3.5 weeks. We appreciate their efficiency and attention to detail. They also delivered a seamless single-network installation at our City of Industry facility, providing an immediate solution to new requirements and reinforcing their role as a trusted partner across both of our new sites.”

Structured Cabling - Low Voltage Cabling

Licensed, certified, and accountable

When you bring Network Zen onto a commercial project as your low voltage subcontractor, you’re working with a California-licensed, professionally credentialed team, not a residential installer who bids commercial jobs on the side.

C-7 License #1086571 — California C-7 Low Voltage Systems Contractor, issued by the CSLB. Verify it at cslb.ca.gov before you award the work.

RCDD certified staff — the Registered Communications Distribution Designer credential is the gold standard in structured cabling design, issued by BICSI. Most LV subs don’t have it on staff.

Fully insured — COI available immediately on request. No delays before mobilization.

Inc. 5000 — Named to America’s fastest-growing private companies list. We’ve built the systems and team to scale with complex commercial projects.

Headquartered in Brea, CA — serving commercial projects throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the Inland Empire. Formerly Advanced Network Consultants; rebranded as Network Zen in 2020.

Questions GCs Typically Ask Us First - FAQ

If you’re putting us on a bid list or evaluating us for an upcoming project, here’s what usually comes up in the first conversation.

Yes. We work with commercial general contractors as a C-7 licensed specialty low voltage sub on new construction and tenant improvement projects throughout Southern California. What we bring to the relationship is a little different from a trade-only LV contractor: we run structured projects, communicate the way an IT firm does, and treat documentation and closeout as seriously as the physical install. GCs tell us that discipline is what they’re usually missing from their low voltage sub. Every commercial job gets a dedicated project manager, one point of contact who owns the scope, coordinates with your super and other trades, and is reachable when something comes up on site.

Typically within five business days of receiving drawings. Our proposals are itemized: cable types, quantities, drop locations, rack work, testing and certification, and exclusions. We also include a milestone-based installation timeline tied to your project schedule. You’ll know exactly when we mobilize, when rough-in is complete, and when the closeout package lands.

Labeled runs on both ends at termination, as-built drawings maintained throughout the project, ANSI/TIA-568 certification test results for every drop, rack documentation, and firestop records. Everything the AHJ needs for the CO inspection, and everything the tenant needs to actually manage the infrastructure we built. It’s ready before you ask for it.

Yes. We hold a C-7 (Low Voltage Systems) contractor’s license issued by the CSLB, License #1086571, verifiable at cslb.ca.gov. The C-7 is required for all commercial low voltage cabling work in California, covering structured cabling, data drops, access control, and security camera infrastructure. If a low voltage  sub you’re evaluating can’t hand you a current C-7 number on the spot, they’re not legally authorized to do the work.

Let’s talk about your next project.

Tell us the scope, the timeline, and what you need from your cabling contractor. We’ll get you a scoped proposal fast, itemized, clear, and built to hold up through install and closeout.
