What does network installation include?

Our team does not follow a one-size-fits-all approach. However, there are standard elements for every network installation project.

  • Wireless Access Point Installation – We install based on the exact parameters set by Network Zen or by the end customer.
  • Fiber Cabling – We will aid in validating the type of cable needed as well as the accessory and miscellaneous items needed. Our partners at Hubbell ensure we’ve got the best. We make sure your cable pathways and server rooms/cabinets are aesthetically pleasing and set up for ease of ongoing maintenance.
  • Network Racks & IDF Cabinets – We will properly install the racks and cabinets along with rack and cabinet accessories (i.e., cable management, ladder racks, etc.) to ensure everything is properly secured.
  • Validated & Tested Cabling – We validate our cabling by testing them upon completion and having them certified by our cable manufacturer to ensure proper warranty. Upon any issues with any of the cables, we will come back to further troubleshoot at no additional cost.
  • Network Equipment Installation – We rack and stack all network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, battery backups) and patch all network equipment into the switches or any other interconnections. We also offer network security surveillance cameras and access control installations.
  • Patch Panel Labeling – We label all patch panels as well as cables and wall plates/biscuits to ensure we can easily identify all the cables.

Our Network Installation Process

  1. Consultation & Design – We will sit with your team and discuss what is needed as part of the network install. The discussion will include items such as the status and structure of the network design, what we will be installing, the type of cable we will be running, and what environment we will be installing within.
  2. Physical Site Walkthrough – Our sales engineer and lead technician will visit the site to verify the physical environment and have any additional discussions regarding the install. This stage may include a site survey if needed.
  3. Vetting & Sourcing Materials – Based on the consultation, network design, and site walkthrough, we will research and source the materials required for a successful installation.
  4. Installation Process – We will undergo the installation process while abiding by OHSA safety regulations, and constantly communicating with you, the customer.
  5. Documentation – Upon completion of the installation, we will provide as-built documentation defining all installed material and hardware. We can also provide detailed training for your staff if needed.

How much does it cost to install network wiring?

It takes experience and skill to correctly estimate the costs of cabling for network security cameras, wireless access points, and other connected device installations. However, our gurus have simplified the process to give you a tool to begin your project estimating.

Bad behavior to watch out for from wireless network installation companies.

Businesses may face various challenges when dealing with wireless network installation companies. Some of the common issues include:

Lack of Communication: Poor communication between the wireless network installation companies and the customer leads to misunderstandings, delays, and unsatisfactory results. Customers might struggle to get timely updates on the progress of the installation or face difficulties in reaching the vendor’s support team.

Inadequate Expertise: Some vendors might lack the necessary expertise or experience to handle complex network installations. This can result in improper setup, configuration errors, or security vulnerabilities.

Scope Creep: Sometimes, wireless network installation companies may fail to properly define the scope of the project, leading to unexpected additional costs or incomplete work. It’s essential to have a clear understanding of what’s included in the service agreement.

Unreliable Timelines: Delays in network installation can disrupt business operations and lead to financial losses. Vendors who consistently miss deadlines can be a significant source of frustration.

Hidden Costs: Clients may encounter hidden costs that were not initially disclosed in the proposal. This can include extra charges for additional equipment, unforeseen technical challenges, or overtime labor.

Poor After-Sales Support: A network installation vendor’s responsibilities don’t end with the setup. Clients need ongoing support for maintenance, troubleshooting, and future upgrades. If the vendor lacks quality after-sales support, it can be a major issue for the client.

Incompatible Solutions: Some vendors might recommend or install network equipment that isn’t compatible with the existing infrastructure or the client’s specific requirements. This can lead to operational problems and increased expenses to fix the incompatibility.

Security Concerns: Network installations often involve sensitive data and require robust security measures. Inadequate security practices by the vendor can put the client’s network at risk of data breaches and cyberattacks.

Lack of Documentation and Training: Proper documentation and training are crucial for the client’s IT team to manage and troubleshoot the network effectively. A wireless network installation company’s failure to provide comprehensive documentation and training can make it challenging for the client to maintain the system.

Vendor Lock-in: Some vendors may use proprietary technologies or solutions that make it difficult for the client to switch to a different vendor in the future without significant cost and disruption.

To mitigate these challenges, it’s essential to thoroughly research and vet potential network installation vendors, check their references, and clearly define expectations and deliverables in the service agreement. Regular communication and maintaining a good working relationship can also contribute to a successful network installation process.
